Oracle Director, Data Product Management, Oracle DataFox in Salt Lake City, Utah

Manage a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget. As a Director in the product development division, you will lead a team that defines product specifications and or strategy. Gather and analyze information to define product specifications and review design specifications. Envision and communicate product strategy and functionality. Initiate and foster relationships with other groups. Review product documentation and collateral. Ensure successful product releases based on corporate priorities. Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. The ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations is important. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development and product management. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 of software engineering or related experience preferred. This is a remote/office based position which may be performed anywhere in the United States except for within the state of Colorado. Overall Description Oracle DataFox is the real-time source of truth on over 7 million companies around the world. Business professionals rely on DataFox to understand their markets AND prioritize which companies they should be targeting, and to understand their suppliers and decide from whom they should be buying. DataFox uses ML and NLP to mine the public internet, news sources, and social sources for firmographics and signals about companies. DataFox presents the opportunity to build new products based on a wealth of relevant labeled data related to companies. Every day tens of thousands of events in the business world are processed, analyzed, and incorporated into DataFox’s growing knowledge-base of companies. Sales and marketing professionals use DataFox to answer strategic questions like “which software companies with revenue of at least $5 million opened a new office recently?” or “which healthcare companies based in California just launched a new product?” Procurement departments use DataFox to answer questions about risk, such as “have any of my existing suppliers experienced negative financial results or been faced with new lawsuits?” There’s a lot left to build. Oracle DataFox has an amazing team of data labelers with years of experience making decisions about corporate hierarchies, business identities, and signal identification based on internet research. With many years of labelled data available to mine, there are ample opportunities for a data PM to direct the work of our data science team to innovate more with B2B data. DataFox is looking for a Director-level Data Product Manager to help lead its growing Data Product team. Responsibilities * Take ownership of critical data-related projects and drive them to a successful outcome. Data quality is absolutely essential to DataFox’s product, and so your projects will have a direct and significant impact on the company. Example projects that would be owned end-to-end by the Director of Data Product Management: o Automate real-time company updates through large-scale web crawling. o Lead teams of data scientists and engineers to deploy machine learning models that identify company lifecycle events from structured and unstructured data. o Establish a new offering for corporate ownership change detection using data science and many years of labeled data * Create airtight documentation and processes to ensure projects are completed on time. * Develop a deep understanding of all of DataFox’s data. Become the expert on data, ML and NLP-related questions both internally and externally. * Apply your knowledge and experience with real world value-creating ML and NLP applications to make judgements about prioritization * Build strategic roadmap for major data science-driven product areas 1-2 years out. * Communicate and advocate your vision for DataFox’s data strategy and how it is differentiated from competitors. * Align disparate stakeholders and drive decision-making. * Coordinate on product roll-outs with marketing, sales, customer success, data ops. Be the point person for coordinating projects across various stakeholder teams, some geographically distributed: data scientists, teams of analysts and data specialists, engineering, and sales. * Gather feedback regularly from internal stakeholders, customers, and potential users. * Take open-ended requirements (e.g. improve international company coverage), collect and evaluate different solutions to those requirements (crawl, purchase, manually compile), and work across functions (customer success, sales, product, data tools, data science, and data operations) to structure and implement those projects. Requirements This role will break new ground and require solving new problems with many unknowns. Requirements for the role include: * At least 5 years of experience, preferably in enterprise software * Experience in technical roles as an engineer, data engineer, or data scientist * Conceptual understanding and experience with NLP, supervised ML, SQL and noSQL databases, APIs, ETL processes The following qualities and qualifications are also required: * Self-starter, motivated and ambitious.
