Collins Engineers, Inc. Regional Manager in Midvale, Utah
Collins Engineers is looking for a dynamic Structural Engineer with a background in structural design-namely bridges and roadways, and a desire to pursue management opportunities. The Regional Manager for the Salt Lake City office is responsible for the technical, business development, financial, and administrative management of the office, for achieving the company’s goals and ensuring policies, practices, and philosophies are followed. The position requires a high level of ethical and professional conduct in technical and managerial activities. This position reports to a Division Manager.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for identifying and cultivating new business and clients.
Prepare an annual comprehensive marketing plan addressing both short term and long term marketing goals.
Supervise and monitor client relationship strategies.
Responsible for maintaining meaningful relationships with all clients.
Responsible for submitting monthly marketing status reports.
Ensure that external client focus is top priority of the region, and that systems, processes, and activities that focus on the client at all levels of the region are implemented.
Be available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
Achieve all regional performance goals including: contract income, regional utilization, multiplier, controllable overhead expenses, and business development.
Prepare annual Office Business Plan/Budget.
Prepare and monitor project budgets. Has overall responsibility for the profitability of all projects in office.
Responsible for proposal preparation and QC, estimating project costs, contract negotiation, project quality, and project profitability.
Maintain a fiscal monitoring system utilizing corporate guidelines and assistance to ensure that accounts receivable, accounts payable, project budgets, and contract development meet company goals.
Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects.
Develop inter-office agreements for his/her projects within the company.
Supervise office Project Managers, who are responsible for construction management, bridge and ancillary structure inspection services, and design services.
Develop and implement communication processes and systems to ensure effective communication with staff, clients and corporate office.
Meet with staff after the Managers’ weekly call. Inform employees of pertinent information.
Ensure that employees are aware of the corporate strategic plan including all short and long term goals.
Manage the staff and be responsible for technical training and career development of all staff.
Responsible for identifying, recruiting and retaining qualified technical and administrative personnel; monitor staff performance and make necessary personnel changes.
Responsible for reviewing and approving all employees’ expense reports and timesheets.
Serve as a senior project manager or senior project engineer on complex projects and as a designated client contact.
Be active in Technical societies such as; ACEC.
Publish engineering papers and/or articles.
Have overall safety responsibility for his/her office.
Ensure that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receives such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work.
Know how to perform his/her duties safely.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited four-year university and a minimum of 12 years experience or the equivalent thereof.
Maintains competency in and serves as major firm resource in the field of structural design.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Valid driver's license
